Can understand that Joseph’s brothers were very jealous & angry with Joseph – (i) he was dad’s favourite (one of younger sons but eldest son of Rachel Jacob’s favourite wife) (ii) dad made Joseph a colourful robe & spent more time with him – his brothers were shepherds & probably dirty much of the time (iii) Joseph sneaked on brothers “bad behaviour” to Jacob (iv) Joseph’s dreams alluded to superiority of Joseph. Certainly Joseph did not seem to take action to improve his relationship with his brothers – not sure if he deliberately inflamed situation or if he was naive? BUT the brothers jealousy & anger is a sin & does not condone or justify thoughts to plan to kill or in this case sell Joseph into slavery. “Each time, ask God for the grace to forgive and let go of anger so we will not sin”.
