Eliphaz’ made 3 mistakes:
1 he viciously attacked the sufferer.
2 his talk about the consolations of God was trivial.
3 He said the wicked had short, dreadful lives. Often not true!
Eliphaz blindly assumes Job has sinned and this is the result now of all Job’s suffering. Eliphaz absolutely refuses to think / accept there can be any other explanation . He refuses to open his mind to the possibility that:
‘Job is facing something I do not see; I don’t understand his problem, but I will treat him with respect’.
