At Greenbelt I heard of Meister Eckhart, mediaeval mystic, who said a rock praises God by obeying its call to fall or to rest. Eric Liddel the champion athlete in ‘Chariots of Fire’ said “It pleasures God to see me run.
A special thing in this psalm is the first creatures to praise God are giant squids (sea monsters). What does that do for purview of our place in the world?
such a beautiful & magnificent psalm & reminds me to look again at the world, God’s creation of all things, to look at its beauty and to look with wonder. All around me is God’s beautiful creation. For me to rejoice, thank the Lord – and praise him. And to act in his spirit & follow his way in thought, speech and deed’s – giving thanks & praise to him.
Louis Armstrong – “what a beautiful world” comes to mind
