ParticipantThere are many things around us in this world that we may be do not understand … but we accept in our daily lives. This is an insightful quote:
“ You cannot avoid mystery unless you go out of the world. You are only asked to do with religion what you already do with the rest of life. Begin by believing, and then you will see.”

ParticipantTo be born of water & spirit:
Spirit to receive new life.
Water – physical birth, cleansed by metaphorical water – baptised – repent of sins / ask for forgiveness

Participantonly Jesus really knows God most intimately and he tried to show us… through his actions / teachings (walk the talk). God -life/ light -grace/ truth. Maybe we do not have the words to describe God – but we know/ feel
God through prayer / mediation and find/ know God within us?KateKemp
ParticipantThe 2 disciples did not recognise Jesus on road to Emmaus – need to pray / stay close to God to see him. Do not assume we know all – keep our hearts open to the mystery of God – keep pray – we will then “see” God. Road to Emmaus – life is a physical and spiritual journey.

Participantall knew Jesus hadn’t done anything wrong …. but all were afraid they would lose something if Jesus remained – priests/ authority + Pilate angry mob/ (more insurrection) & when Jesus was claimed King of the Jews he feared this would upset Caesar and he worried for his own position. etc + crowd were Jerusalem residents not outsiders (unlike Palm Sunday crowds)and did not want outsider (Jesus) to take over Jerusalem + Peter / prison .
Why hadn’t Jesus converted more people in Jerusalem into his followers the way he had converted outsiders? … need more discussion

Participant“not my will but yours to be done” ….. this highlights again the great importance of regular prayer time with god, – prayer, meditation to feel / know be guided/ have courage for gods will not ours.

ParticipantJesus enters the Jerusalem temple so publicly because he finally makes it very well known that he is the son of God, the Messiah . He knows his mission will end soon.

ParticipantI think I take most learning from
the elder son – he is judgemental of younger son and has a sense of self righteousness that he is a better person than his younger brother. How many times have I thought “I am better than …xxx .person” or not acted to help a person in trouble or in need of “a friend” ?
