KateKempParticipant
leading by example is better than talking – what you do is more important than what you say?
I find myself more and more realising how valuable prayer time is – stillness – and that pray time is one (if not the most) of the most important activities in my life.
KateKempParticipantwhat is my calling? To be aware of my talents – to use my talents – to love my neighbour as myself
KateKempParticipantthis a big topic – our relationship with money. If you have no money it is very difficult in society / our works today. If we have money we need to use it properly / for good – help others – god is our master not money & be generous.
KateKempParticipantJesus is preaching LOVE & FORGIVENESS – we need to go beyond any form of retaliation – go beyond fear, anger, revenge else we are committing a sin too. Jesus is preaching to be “sin free” – LOVING
I think this can be certainly practised by individuals (at least attempted) – but very difficult for communities as without “laws” and prisons / fines/ punishments there would be anarchy? Humans are not perfect – but on an individual level certainly we can attempt / strive to practice & we should ❤️

KateKempParticipantto feel is to understand + a v16 is reminder to be the best we can be
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
KateKempParticipantI really like the way Jesus uses the analogy of a doctor:
“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.’
Agree with Andy the use of “Son,…” is very caring ❤️
KateKempParticipantThis passage in Mark is very brief detail – currently I would like to know much more detail about 1) Jesus’s time in wilderness and how he managed to resist & find the strength to withstand the hardship / temptation- what did he really think / feel – I am not sure if there is really any information for this – did Jesus keep a diary? 2) previous encounters between Jesus & his first disciples – what made Jesus chose the men he did – why not any women?
KateKempParticipantWhat did the shepherds think?
– it sounds almost unbelievable but I think the shepherds must have really felt the presence of God and been filled with spirit and then awe & compulsion & conviction to go and visit Mary / Jesus and then to share this news afterwards. I can only think that when we are filled with God’s spirit we know it is right and are filled with conviction. They must also somewhere in the hearts have been hoping / desiring if deliverance from their current life situation
KateKempParticipantWhere in life are your passions?
– ok I need to really think more deeply for this …. spend some time – first up – getting to know myself better , family – my children …. then “hobbies” – need to think more deeply for this ❤️?KateKempParticipantFor me these are is the most difficult questions – 1) what is the point/ meaning of life 2) what happens to us after death ?
-Currently I do not (fully) understand the meaning of my life / life
– I need to accept there is so very much more that I do not understand in this life / world vs. what I do understand– LOVE as always is a great start – as God is Love & Love is God –
– this quote from Meet Joe Black helps me “ To make the journey and not fall deeply in love – well, you haven’t lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived.” …… “Forget your head & listen to your heart”
– in other words always focus on LOVE
KateKempParticipantJob realises there is so much more that he does not understand and just had to accept this … and have faith in a loving god.
I think we maybe just have accept too that we cannot understand everything – we just need to keep faith in a loving God and not to give up . Remind ourselves & look at the amazing world God has created – we do not understand so much of the creation and just have to accept that we do not understand so many of Gods ways … but have faith in a loving God and sometimes it is revealed when we look back in our life.
KateKempParticipantwow! such great faith my Job “ For I know my Redeemer lives” – even though all family & friends have rejected Job as they are convinced he must have sinned (although to all + Job the sim is unknown). As the sim is unknown Job holds that God is punishing unjustly + his presumed sin is none of his family/ friends business as any sin is between Job / God . But overall he believes he had not sinned and he believes God is sovereign & Redeemer and so even if Job does he believes he will meet God . Amazing great faith – he blames God but does not go against God.
https://explainingthebook.com/2018/03/04/job-19-commentary/KateKempParticipantEliphaz blindly assumes Job has sinned and this is the result now of all Job’s suffering. Eliphaz absolutely refuses to think / accept there can be any other explanation . He refuses to open his mind to the possibility that:
‘Job is facing something I do not see; I don’t understand his problem, but I will treat him with respect’.
KateKempParticipantgreat pain – physically, mentally, spiritually
KateKempParticipantI can’t imagine how hard it could be for Job- so very, very challenging. I can only thank home as a role model.
