it seems we don’t really know why the (new) King of Babylon decided to release the King of Judah from prison – and then go on to have relationship/ dine with him. God’s Grace?

How do we distinguish between faith & foolhardiness?

Faith – truly thank / believe in God – our lives/ path is God’s will & our prayers are to understand the path? God is in charge not us? We need quiet time & humility to hear God & hear/ see God’s messengers / messages.

places of worship are places of foremost prayer & a place of quiet to be able to pray & have time with God. Pray is really up to each person – it is down yo individual but place of worship can create an environment to facilitate a quiet space enabling prayer & facilitating time with God.

recognising our sin + asking God for forgiveness. Do we forgive God for punishing us? Did David forgive God for making the child die + then
move on to be back on the correct “moral” path?

Prayer time with God to guide David – reinforces again the importance of consistent prayer time.

it takes strength to keep moral boundaries especially in the face of social & peer pressure – prayer time & faith can help me keep my moral boundaries & values.

yes – regular quiet time, meditation & most importantly prayer time & time with God helps me very much to feel
grounded, calm, peaceful & to see, feel in my heart the right path ahead – God’s path. This gives me courage. Very, very helpful to have regular prayer & quiet time – me, myself & God.

I think Gideon shows us you can be the smallest / weakest but with God you can make a difference – with prayer & time with God we can find signs, word of God and right way to behave – we can find the right words to say & action to take. We gain courage even if daunting that it is right way forward. We find peace in our hearts & strength. [not sure but thinking of Tank Man who stopped tank in Tiananmen Square, Greta Thunberg.. ]

I find these parts of the bible difficult to reconcile with a loving meticulous God – how can God command the Israelites to invade Canaan and make war upon the Canaan people?

God says he will give the land of Canaan to the Israelites but how – will the existing inhabitants just give up their land without a fight – it is difficult to believe they will ?

Researching more info on ten commandments #3 “do not take God’s name in vain” – can be expanded to be overall careful as Christians about the language we use – to use conciliatory language v inflammatory etc. Also #2” you shall not make idols” being so not worship the work of our hands e.g. money . But always thank God not ourselves.

Some of this weblink I found interesting: https://saltandlight.sg/faith/are-the-10-commandments-still-relevant/
