KateKempParticipant
This web links discusses manna translated as “what is it” – both physical & spiritual & for our obedience to rely solely on God:
https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-study/topical-studies/what-is-manna.html?ampKateKempParticipantit’s possible science can explain the parting of the Red Sea and even other miracles in the Bible – but maybe the miracle is in the timing a “Godincidence”
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2014/12/08/no-really-there-is-a-scientific-explanation-for-the-parting-of-the-red-sea-in-exodus/KateKempParticipantthis weblink shares Jewish reflections on the passover:
https://www.jdc.org/voice/the-importance-of-passover-reflections-from-across-the-jewish-world-updated/KateKempParticipantIt is important to note that prior to this judgement, God warns Pharoah – do Pharoah had a choice but he ignored it. The Egyptians worshiped many gods & Pharoah was supreme – but God needed to show that the only God was God – and to set Israelites free.
Regarding climate change – yes there is parallels as God is showing us many signs of distress through nature – but we seem to be largely ignoring them as we are entrenched in our lifestyle / position and not willing to change.
Praying that we can all see + hear these signs & open our hearts to change ❤️
KateKempParticipantthis weblink helped explain to me more & the need to “wait on the lord” and to refrain from taking things into our own hands -yes killing a fellow human is a sin.
http://www.prca.org/resources/publications/cr-news/item/1643-did-moses-sin-in-killing-the-egyptianKateKempParticipantJoseph not only forgave his brothers for selling him into slavery but he offered them kindness – food etc. WOW ❤️
KateKempParticipantpreviously Joseph seemed to be “daddy’s boy” , arrogant, proud, attention seeking -but also honest in exposing brother’s bad behaviour + dreams (not sure if he could interpret them then?) . But developed / matured through years of rejection, time in prison, hardship years in Egypt & more time to reflect + listen to God – he became much closer to God (a sign we can all develop such a relationship with God even given the garish circumstances – Gods kingdom open to all ?) . He stayed true/ honest – did not lie with boss’s wife+ continued to interpret dreams accurately. He worked hard and gained status as a honest / true man.
KateKempParticipantCan understand that Joseph’s brothers were very jealous & angry with Joseph – (i) he was dad’s favourite (one of younger sons but eldest son of Rachel Jacob’s favourite wife) (ii) dad made Joseph a colourful robe & spent more time with him – his brothers were shepherds & probably dirty much of the time (iii) Joseph sneaked on brothers “bad behaviour” to Jacob (iv) Joseph’s dreams alluded to superiority of Joseph. Certainly Joseph did not seem to take action to improve his relationship with his brothers – not sure if he deliberately inflamed situation or if he was naive? BUT the brothers jealousy & anger is a sin & does not condone or justify thoughts to plan to kill or in this case sell Joseph into slavery. “Each time, ask God for the grace to forgive and let go of anger so we will not sin”.
KateKempParticipantI found this useful:
Who I’m Meant to Be: Lessons from the Life of Jacobhttps://deepspirituality.com/im-meant-lessons-life-of-jacob/
KateKempParticipantfollowing from my previous post & WHY this weblink helps explain the WHY :
KateKempParticipantI find this a difficult passage to reconcile as Jacob takes Esau’s birthright in exchange for giving Esau food+ Jacob deceives Issac by making Issac believe he is Esau in order to receive Issac’s blessing. But God after Jacob’s ladder dream promises Jacob(i) land (ii) future of his offspring (iii) to be with Jacob always, to keep & never leave him until God’s promise is fulfilled.
God obviously chose Jacob over Esau & seemingly condoned Jacob’s actions towards his brother & father. The question is WHY?
KateKempParticipantI find this test that God gave Abraham difficult to reconcile God’ – albeit that Abraham put God first and trusted in God – Abraham showed enormous faith / maybe that is the point?
BUT I also wonder why Abraham didn’t discuss / argue with God as he had before – killing human life is wrong – understand human sacrifices made in pagan religions – but not with God?
Moving on the question “Would You Kill For God?” – the answer by many of Abraham’s descendants throughout history is “ Yes” – unfortunately ….
KateKempParticipantwow – that is a mature relationship with God to take on the role of defence for others – asking for forgiveness & mercy – also as Jesus in the cross asked & took the role of defence “Father, forgive them; they don’t know what they are doing”
KateKempParticipantI found this link helpful for more explanation -Abraham asks questions of God -heir & land & God makes a covenant with Abraham. Amazing faith by Abraham after God replies to his questions. In another link it also mentioned the birds that Abraham did not cut in half and apparently this was an error and the birds of prey that swooped to seize them represent evil – the fact that Abraham did not cut the birds in half was an error and shows that we need to take care of the small things in our life as well as big. The weblink suggested that Gods enslavement of Abraham’s descendants was die to this error?

does ask God
KateKempParticipantYes, very, very hard to leave safety & familiarity of your home, friends. Great FAITH, TRUST in the Lord & much continued prayer.
